Unveiling Excellence Through Blind Tasting
Our panel of experienced winemakers follows strict blind tasting protocols to ensure every wine is assessed impartially and without label bias. Using a 100-point scoring system, Peer Review Wine provides producers with a detailed written review to share with both trade partners and consumers.

Ben Riggs
Mr. Riggs Founder & Winemaker
Ben Riggs, a Roseworthy Agricultural College graduate, has crafted wines across renowned regions such as Napa Valley, Bordeaux, Italy, and Australia, completing 47 vintages to date. His award-winning wines have earned over 150 trophies, and he was twice nominated for Gourmet Traveller WINE Winemaker of the Year.
A certified AWRI Advanced Sensory judge, Ben has also been an AWRI Advanced Sensory Lecturer, and Senior Judge at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show on many occasions. Ben also works in a consulting capacity for wineries and produces wine for wholesale and retail entities. He is passionate about community and is actively involved in the McLaren Vale wine community. He ran the McLaren Vale Wine Show for 10 years, was Vice Chair of McLaren Vale Wine Grape and Tourism Association for 3 years, and Chair for 3 years.
In 2001, Ben launched Mr. Riggs Wine Co., where he creates wines that honour the vineyard, showcase varietal character, and reflect his personal style and wines that he loves to drink.

Armand Lacomme
McLaren Vintners Pty Ltd, Senior Winemaker
Armand Lacomme is a seasoned winemaker with close to two decades of experience. His leadership at Riverland Vintners and McLaren Vintners is characterised by an unwavering commitment to producing wines that exceed customer expectations.
A graduate with a Bachelor of Agriculture from the University of Stellenbosch, Armand’s professional journey has been geographically rich, encompassing the esteemed vineyards of France and the vibrant winemaking scene of South Africa.

Shane Harris
Winemaker
Shane Harris, Head Winemaker and Brand Ambassador at Wines by Geoff Hardy, boasts a rich tapestry of experience in the Australian wine industry. Beginning his winemaking journey in 2000, Shane has won Australian Winemaker of the Year three times.
Overseeing 27 varieties across South Australia’s top wine regions, he also consults internationally in Ningxia, China. A certified AWRI Advanced Sensory judge, Shane's discerning palate and industry acumen have also led him to serve as a judge at esteemed wine shows around Australia.
